its a one tree hill kinda night. :)

There are so many reasons why I chose to go to the school I’m at now. I just finished my sophomore year at John Brown University and there is not a doubt in my mind that this is the school for me. I’m majoring in Family and Human Services, hoping to go into some sort of social work field. I really picked JBU specifically because of my major. Not necessarily because it’s the best school, with the best degree, but more because when I read the class descriptions and even the major description, it all sounded like exactly what I wanted to do. I’m paying for college on my own and I wanted go somewhere that I’ll feel like I’m going to benefit from the experience. Since attending there for the past two years, I can honestly say that my classes have challenged me in many ways. I think more about why I believe the things I believe and how I can effectively apply the knowledge I’m learning when I go out in the real world. I know that I’m going to have to attend graduate school in a few years and I feel that JBU will give me a firm foundation when I attend graduate school. Another reason I chose this school is because it is a private Christian school. I’ve grown up a believer and wanted to continue learning how to integrate my faith into my career. At my school, I’m learning how to do just that. There are plenty of other Christian schools across the country but I really feel like this is the school I connected at, where I felt at home. I can confidently say that I’m learning a lot not only in my schooling but also in my classes that challenge my faith. Another important point I’d like to make is that this school doesn’t just ignore the real world or pretend that everyone is a Christian. My professors are doing an excellent job of showing us real world issues and how to use the skills we’re learning to help those people in need without shoving our beliefs down their throats. We’re learning how to love people the way that Christ would even if that means just showing love and not expecting to witness to them too.
